Developing a Vibrant Profitable, Sustainable Community

FSK works to transform rural agricultural communities by implementing innovative farming practices, market-oriented approaches, and sustainable resource management

Empowering Kenya's Smallholder Farmers

About Us

Farming Systems Kenya (FSK) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization established in 1981 through the initiative of the Africa Inland Church’s Nakuru Region Lay People Fellowship (NLPF). With a mission focused on poverty reduction through agricultural development, FSK primarily serves smallholder farmers, who constitute approximately 80% of Kenya’s farming community. The organization works diligently to improve these farmers’ productivity, thereby enhancing their incomes and food security through the implementation of appropriate agricultural technologies.

Our Focus Model

Animal Welfare

We believe that healthy animals mean healthy families and resilient communities. In rural Kenya, donkeys, goats, sheep, and bees are not just assets, they are lifelines.

Gender Equity and Social Inclusion

We recognize that true community development is only possible when women, youth, and marginalized groups have equal opportunity.

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

At FSK, we know that clean water and good hygiene are not luxuries. they are the foundation of healthy, productive communities.

Climate-Smart Agriculture

Climate change is no longer a distant threat,  it is already disrupting farming systems in Kenya.

Leadership and Governance

Sustainability of community projects often fails without strong local leadership and governance structures.

Economic Empowerment

Smallholder farmers are the backbone of Kenya’s food systems, yet many remain trapped in subsistence farming.

Farming Systems Kenya Education Fund

Across Kenya, many bright students from rural and disadvantaged families are forced to drop out of school due to financial hardship.
